Virginia B. Edwards

Education Week
Editor-in-Chief

As president of Editorial Projects in Education, Virginia B. Edwards oversees the nearly 90-person, $14.5 million-a-year nonprofit corporation that publishes Education Week and edweek.org.  She has held the post since 1997.

Ms. Edwards has been the editor-in-chief of Education Week – the premier “newspaper of record” for precollegiate education in the United States – since 1989.  The newspaper has a paid circulation of about 45,000 and is read by more than 200,000 others.  For the past 18 years, she has also served as the editor and publisher of edweek.org, which serves up nearly 3 million page views to more than 700,000 unique visitors each month.

Before joining EPE, Ms. Edwards worked for two years for the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, and, for the nearly 10 years before that, she was an editor and reporter at The Courier-Journal in Louisville, Ky.
