Trevor Greene

Toppenish High School, Toppenish Washington
Principal

After 15 years in public education, Trevor Greene settled in to his current position serving a high-poverty, minority-majority population on the Yakama Indian Reservation (100% free/reduced priced meals; 95.6% Native American and Hispanic). Under his stewardship, Toppenish High School was honored with five Washington Achievement Awards, was recognized as a 2012 State STEM Lighthouse School, received the 2012 Stanley O. McNaughton Program Award for the state of Washington, and achieved full implementation of a biomedical program and nationally certified engineering program.  Students can now earn 35 university credits without leaving the school, enrollment in upper-level math and science courses has exploded, writing scores (87.2%) now exceed the state average, and the graduation rate has increased to over 90 percent.  Mr. Greene, a Muskogee-Creek tribal member, was named the Washington State High School Principal of the Year for 2012 and is the 2013 MetLife/NASSP National High School Principal of the Year.
