Gregory L. Fenves, Ph.D.

Gregory L. Fenves is dean of the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin.  He leads one of the largest top ranked schools of engineering in the U.S. with 7600 students and 278 faculty.  The Cockrell School educates students to be leaders and innovators.  The school has high-impact research programs in priority areas such as energy, healthcare, and manufacturing, totaling more than $160 million a year in research expenditures.

Prior to joining UT in 2008, Fenves was on the faculty of The University of California, Berkeley for more than 20 years. Holding a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and a master's and doctoral degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, in civil engineering, Fenves has received numerous national awards, including the National Science Foundation's Presidential Young Investigator Award and four major awards from the American Society of Civil Engineers.
