Entertainment Industries Council (EIC)
External Communication and Program Director

Skylar presently serves as External Communications and Program Director for the Entertainment Industries Council (EIC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to bridging communications between the entertainment industry’s creative

community and health and social policy issues. She is responsible for contract/project support, event logistics, online content, development and dissemination of corporate communications, and mentoring future communicators as recruiter and manager of the EIC internship program.

Skylar’s work includes local and national depiction forums, think tanks and broadcasts on topics such as science, engineering & technology (S.E.T.), Veteran’s affairs, mental health, substance use, among others, in addition to recognition events including the PRISM Awards, S.E.T. Awards, and Capitol Showcase. During her early public speaking career, Skylar presented on a wide range of topics including education, physical and mental health care, tobacco cessation, genetic engineering, disease prevention, medical technology and legislative issues. She is also engaged in the Business and Industry STEM Education Coalition, STEM-Leading Ladies and

other local and national charitable activities geared towards education and research.

An award-winning journalist, investigative reporter and public speaker, Skylar served as a broadcast television news anchor and special projects reporter/producer prior to joining EIC in 2011.

Her career in journalism gave her the opportunity to work in Florida, Texas and Alabama where she received honors including Associated Press Best News Anchor, Associated Press Best Investigative Report, Associated Press Best Web Journalism, Alabama Broadcast Association Best News Series, and Associated Press Best Investigative Report.

Skylar is a graduate of the University of Miami with a Master of Arts in Broadcast Journalism, Bachelor of Science in Communication and additional study in psychology and international relations.
